In the Borsky district, police uncovered a case of fictitious registration of a foreign national. A local resident registered the woman at his address even though he knew she had no intention of living there, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region reported.

A 30-year-old man, between January and March 2025, submitted documents to register a citizen from a neighboring country on the migration register. He indicated that she would reside in his house in one of the district's villages. However, in reality the woman never moved in there.

The man knowingly did this to help the foreigner remain in Russia, thereby violating migration rules. Because of the fictitious registration, the authorities could not track her actual whereabouts or compliance with the law.

A criminal case has been opened against the offender under the article on fictitious registration of a foreign national. He is currently under a written undertaking not to leave and is required to observe proper conduct.

He faces up to three years in prison.

It was previously reported that two cases of fictitious registration on the migration register for money were uncovered in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
