      The Diveevsky Interdistrict Court has handed down a sentence to the former director of a budgetary institution that provides assistance to elderly people and persons with disabilities. This was reported by the Prosecutor’s Office of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      According to it, the man was found guilty of abuse of official powers and large-scale embezzlement.

      As the investigation established, in 2021 the director hired an acquaintance as a janitor who in fact did not work. From that time until 2024 he instructed subordinates to enter false information in the timekeeping sheets, on the basis of which the woman was paid a salary and other payments. She used the funds she received at her discretion.

      As a result of the defendant’s actions, the regional budget suffered damage of more than 400,000 rubles.

      The court sentenced the former director to 4 years’ imprisonment suspended, imposed a fine of 476,000 rubles and banned him from holding positions in the civil service for three years.

      Earlier it was reported that the former head of a kindergarten in Gorodets was convicted of embezzling 670,000 rubles.
