      The preventive measure against Zhanna Nikonova, the former rector of the Dobrolyubov Nizhny Novgorod State Linguistic University, has been softened. This was reported to NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" by the regional court's press service.

      It became known that on August 20 the Moskovsky District Court lifted the house arrest and replaced it with a ban on certain actions.

      The former rector of NGLU is facing charges in a case of exceeding official authority. She was detained in February of the current year. Investigators believe that in 2023 and 2024, while heading the university, she unlawfully initiated payments of bonuses to employees on the basis of unfounded memos. The damage, according to investigators, amounted to more than one million rubles.

      Within the same criminal case, Vice-Rector for Research Anna Chanchina and the head of the NGLU Institute of Continuing Education, Yulia Chicherina, are also listed as persons involved.

      Earlier it was reported that the investigation concerning the former general director of Nizhny Novgorod JSC "Teploenergo", Ilya Khalturin, had been completed. The criminal case has been sent to court.
