      Deputy of the City Duma of Nizhny Novgorod Olga Balakina supported the initiatives of residents of the Nizhegorodsky District as part of the project workshop of the governor’s participatory budgeting project “You Decide!”, which took place on August 20, 2025, at the House of National Unity. At the event, more than 50 Nizhny Novgorod residents, together with the project curators of “Social District Officer,” Svetlana Dosaeva and Dmitry Sivokhin, discussed improvement sites for 2026.

      “You Decide! is a promising tool for improving the quality of life of Nizhny Novgorod residents. It makes targeted improvements accessible. Anyone can propose an idea and receive funding for its implementation. As practice shows, sites put in order at citizens’ initiative become centers of attraction for residents. Moreover, it is a serious investment in the future of our district!” emphasized Olga Balakina. The deputy recalled previously implemented projects in electoral district No. 28 — the running track of School No. 22, renovated in 2025, and a children’s town installed in 2024 at 9 Germana Lopatina Street.

      Since the launch of the “You Decide!” project, more than 5,000 people’s initiatives have been implemented in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The head of Nizhegorodsky District, Alexey Rybolovlev, added that the project practically has no boundaries: “The implementation of ideas by proactive residents makes the district more comfortable to live in. Therefore, the longer the project exists, the more new, modern territories we will get. This year, under the ‘You Decide!’ project in Nizhegorodsky District, we mainly improved social institutions: we installed and repaired sports grounds and asphalted the territories of educational institutions. These initiatives were voted for by Nizhny Novgorod residents themselves. In total, we implemented 7 projects this year.”

      According to the chair of the Territorial Public Self-Government Council “Usilovsky,” Vera Myakisheva, residents participate in the “You Decide!” project annually: “I can proudly say that our microdistrict has noticeably been renewed over the past few years. New sports and children’s playgrounds, public spaces for walking and recreation, and much more continue to appear. We do not break with our tradition, and this year we have already identified several territories for improvement and are ready to submit applications. Our active residents will support us in this.”

      Reminder: until September 15, 2025, Nizhny Novgorod residents can submit an application to participate in the governor’s participatory budgeting project “You Decide!” on the website: VAM.GOLOSZA.RU.
