More than 92,500 medical examinations have been performed on Nizhny Novgorod residents in the "Health Trains" since the beginning of the year. In the specialized mobile modules it is possible to quickly and comfortably undergo diagnostics of the condition of various organs and systems. Patients have access to chest X-rays (fluorography), electrocardiography (ECG), mammography, ultrasound scans, as well as a full range of laboratory tests.
Examination results, as well as consultations with narrow-profile specialists, make it possible to establish a diagnosis and prescribe treatment to the patient, if required. Cardiologists, neurologists, otorhinolaryngologists (ENT specialists), surgeons, oncologists and other medical professionals work with Nizhny Novgorod residents. At patients' request, dentists and specialists working with people suffering from diabetes join the team.
"Over the past months the 'Health Trains' have already made 155 trips and visited more than 450 localities in the region. Nearly 26,700 people have seen the medical staff. Physicians managed to detect more than 5,300 cases of diseases for the first time. About 18,700 people were referred for further examination, and 855 patients required hospitalization," said the N. A. Semashko Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital, on the basis of which the medical teams are formed.
The medical organization emphasized that following the rules of a healthy lifestyle is the best prevention for many diseases. Doctors remind all patients of this, persuade people to give up smoking and alcohol, and encourage them to exercise regularly while choosing an appropriate level of physical activity.
"The work of the 'Health Trains' is a valuable contribution to the implementation of the new national project 'A Long and Active Life'. When people regularly consult doctors, medical professionals are able to prevent the development of many chronic non-communicable diseases or detect pathologies at early stages when they can be addressed," explained the regional Ministry of Health.
Recall that the "Health Trains" project has been implemented at the initiative of the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin, since 2018. The national project "A Long and Active Life" started in the country in 2025 by order of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. It is aimed at the expected increase in life expectancy by 2030 and envisages further renovation of polyclinics, outpatient clinics and feldsher-midwife stations, attracting an increasing number of qualified medical personnel to medical institutions, applying new approaches to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases, improving emergency medical care and the rehabilitation system, developing a network of national research centers, and digitalizing the sector. The national project includes 11 federal projects: "Health for Everyone," "Modernization of Primary Health Care," "Medical Personnel," "Combating Cardiovascular Diseases," "Combating Oncological Diseases," "Combating Diabetes," "Combating Hepatitis and Minimizing the Risks of Disease Spread," "Improving Emergency Medical Care," "Development of Federal Medical Organizations, Including the Development of the Network of National Research Centers," the national platform "Health," and "Optimal Medical Rehabilitation for Health Recovery."
