      A criminal case over “dropper” activity has been opened for the first time in the Nizhny Novgorod region. According to the police, a young man persuaded his 16‑year‑old acquaintance to give him the login and password to her electronic payment instrument. He then received money stolen by fraudsters from citizens through his acquaintance’s account and transferred it to accomplices. For his services the suspect received 1% of the amount of funds credited to the account. Amendments to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation that came into force on July 5, 2025, under which anyone who provides bank cards and details for illegal financial transactions can be held criminally liable, are now in effect.
