Society NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" - Polina ZubovaIn 2022–2024, as part of the implementation of one of the socio-economic development initiatives, "Electric Car and Hydrogen Car," 125 fast electric charging stations were installed in the Nizhny Novgorod region, each with a capacity of 150 kW, the regional Ministry of Energy and Housing and Communal Services told NIA "Nizhny Novgorod."
As the ministry noted, the number of such facilities in the region is more than three times the minimum requirements set at the federal level.
From March 1, 2026, updated requirements for roadside fuel stations will come into force in Russia. According to the Government decree of July 28, 2025, each fuel station will be required to have an electric charging station with a capacity of at least 44 kW. This applies not only to specialized charging complexes but also to traditional gasoline, gas and multi-fuel stations.
The bulk of the charging infrastructure was commissioned in 2022 and 2023. Another five charging points began operating in 2024. All of them comply with the technical requirements of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and are available for public use.
As for further development, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade is currently developing new rules for providing state support for the creation of charging infrastructure in the regions. After they are approved, a plan for the placement of new EV charging stations will be drawn up in the Nizhny Novgorod region as well.
Earlier it was reported that Vladimir Putin was informed about the launch of an electric taxi fleet in Nizhny Novgorod.
