"Participation in the 'Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region' program is not an award, but a great responsibility to society, the state and the President of Russia that we must justify," said special military operation veteran and program participant Oleg Kryukov.
Oleg was born and raised in Nizhny Novgorod and now works at one of Dzerzhinsk’s enterprises. In his opinion, the participants who passed the selection for the 'Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region' program are true patriots and possess all the qualities necessary to work in government bodies. That means they will be able to become worthy managers upon completion of the training.
"You always want to see people with a certain set of qualities in leadership. First and foremost, that is diligence, the ability to work, honesty, decency. The guys who passed the selection possess these qualities. The program will help single out the most deserving among them, who will be able to move forward, including helping other people after returning from the special military operation," Oleg Kryukov notes.
While fulfilling his military duty, Oleg already applied managerial competencies — he commanded a mortar crew. During the training he expects to develop management skills and gain experience working in a team. Upon completion of the program, the participant would like to find employment at one of the region’s industrial enterprises.
"I am ready to work in any position where my life experience and my professional qualities will be useful. Moreover, over the year of training we will acquire new skills and expand our opportunities," says Oleg Kryukov.
Recall that the 'Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region' program is aimed at integrating and finding employment for participants and veterans of the special military operation within the system of public administration. In March 2025, an agreement was signed between the government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, RANEPA and KUPNO on cooperation for the implementation of this program.
Registration for participation in the 'Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region' program closed on 31 March. During the selection campaign, 1,613 applications were received from Nizhny Novgorod residents.
Based on the total points from the questionnaire, testing, online interview and assessment, as well as on the results of in-person interviews with the Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Andrey Gneushev, 60 participants were selected for the main educational program and 30 people were chosen for inclusion in the next cohort of the program upon their return to the region.
The official opening of the training under the 'Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region' program took place on 4 August 2025, with the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin, taking part in the ceremony. Sixty people selected to participate in the educational program began their training.
