      Society In Tonkino, after a major overhaul the central children's library has opened. This is the first institution in the region to be modernized in 2025 under the national project "Family", the Ministry of Culture of the Nizhny Novgorod Region said.

      The library serves more than 1,600 children and adolescents. The spacious 270-square-meter premises were completely re-equipped: new furniture was purchased, convenient shelving was installed and a mini printing workshop was opened.

      It now features all-in-one PCs, laptops, interactive panels, VR goggles, a 3D printer, a graphics tablet, a sound system and a podium for presentations. For little ones, an interactive floor, a sandbox, globes and robotics kits were installed.

      "It's important that this is already the second model library in the settlement. In previous years, using regional funds we were able to carry out repairs in the two-story library building and re-equip the central library on the first floor," said Natalia Sukhanova, Minister of Culture of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      The library's collection has grown by almost 3,500 books. The institution now has books ranging from encyclopedias and classics to new releases with augmented reality. Access has also been opened to the National Electronic Library for Children.

      The opening coincided with the settlement's 302nd anniversary. Major renovations are also currently underway at Tonkino's local history museum — also as part of the national project "Family."

      The central children's library in Tonkino became the 54th model library in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. By the end of the year, another four are planned to be updated, and three will be modernized using the regional budget.

      The national project "Family", launched in 2025, includes re-equipping libraries, theaters, museums, cinemas and developing the "Pushkin Card".

      It was previously reported that the major overhaul of the central library in Gorodets is 50% complete.
