      Incidents In Nizhny Novgorod a court found the former head of the road maintenance department of the Main Directorate for Automobile Roads of the Nizhny Novgorod Region guilty of taking a bribe. This was reported by the Investigative Committee department for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      The investigation established that in October 2023 the official received 100,000 rubles for the illegal issuance of technical conditions for a junction to a road. At that time he held the position of head of the relevant department.

      The illegal actions were detected and stopped during joint work by investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia and operatives of the FSB Directorate for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      The court found him guilty under Part 3 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (a public official receiving a bribe in the form of money through an intermediary for actions in favor of the bribe-giver, if such actions fall within the official's powers, in a large amount, for illegal actions).

      By court decision the defendant was sentenced to three years of suspended imprisonment and fined 300,000 rubles.

      Earlier it was reported that a case was opened in the Nizhny Novgorod Region over the embezzlement of 250 million rubles on a defense contract.
