Volunteers from Nizhny Novgorod sent 20 tons of drinking water to veterans and people with disabilities in Donetsk.

Volunteers from Nizhny Novgorod sent 20 tons of drinking water to veterans and people with disabilities in Donetsk.

Volunteers from the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the regional headquarters of #WEARETOGETHER, together with partners, have sent 20 tons of drinking water to residents of Donetsk. The shipment was organized with the support of the Volunteer Center of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The water will be delivered directly to the apartments of people with limited mobility and veterans.

As is known, Donetsk residents are currently in difficult conditions; the city lacks enough drinking water. It is delivered in tanks to courtyards, but for many elderly people and isolated disabled residents it is difficult to leave home to stock up on this vital commodity. Having learned about this acute problem, Nizhny Novgorod volunteers and entrepreneurs collected an entire truck — 20 tons of drinking water.

The initiative for the shipment, made at the special request of residents of Donbass, came from the Volunteer Center of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and People’s Front expert Alexander Tumashov. The campaign became possible thanks to the uniting of efforts by a wide variety of enterprises and organizations in our region.

"Sending drinking water to Donetsk is not just a humanitarian action. Behind this aid is enormous work — from volunteers and logisticians to directors of companies and foundations who found the resources and united for one goal. I watch with great pride as our volunteers work day and night for the sake of peace. These are people with huge hearts who give themselves completely to help those in need. And, of course, we are already preparing the next shipments, expanding logistics routes and attracting new partners," said Maria Samodelkina, General Director of the ANO "Volunteer Center of the Nizhny Novgorod Region."

The cargo has already arrived at its destination. Today and tomorrow disabled people and veterans in Donetsk will receive the necessary assistance from Nizhny Novgorod. Along with the truckload of water for Donetsk, volunteers sent a cargo vehicle with humanitarian aid for servicemen: food and essential items that will support the fighters under difficult conditions.
