      In Gorodets, Nizhny Novgorod Region, the ceremonial opening of the Boxing Center — the first specialized facility in the Nizhny Novgorod Region intended for training athletes in an Olympic sport — will take place on August 27. This was reported by the press service of the regional government.

      According to the press service, the center became part of the Alexander Nevsky physical culture and wellness complex and was built under the region's targeted investment program for 2025–2027.

      The total area of the two-story building is almost 988 square meters. On the first floor there is a sports hall with a 7x7-meter ring, a spectator stand, locker rooms with showers and toilets, a medical office, a dry-heat chamber and service rooms. The building is fully adapted for people with limited mobility. The second floor is allocated to administrative and utility areas. Tennis courts have also been arranged on the center's grounds.

      Veterans of sport, Olympic champions, coaches, students of sports schools and local residents were invited to the opening ceremony. As part of the event, exhibition bouts will be held between athletes from the Nizhny Novgorod and Moscow regions.

      A time capsule was placed in the foundation of the future center on August 31, 2023. Earlier the opening of the facility was repeatedly postponed: at first it was planned to be presented in April, then for Russia Day on June 12, later at the end of June. The last announced date was September 10, 2025.

      It was previously reported that the football club "Pari Nizhny Novgorod" will return to its home arena no earlier than October, as repair work on the stadium is still ongoing. After that, additional time will be needed to restore the pitch.
