Nizhny Novgorod Region will support 42 young geniuses with named scholarships. Scholarship holders include 22 students awarded the Nizhny Novgorod Region scholarship and 20 awarded the scholarship named after the outstanding nuclear physicist, Academician Y. B. Khariton. Each scholarship holder will receive a monthly payment of 2,000 rubles. The Nizhny Novgorod Region scholarship will be paid from September 1, 2025, to August 31, 2026, while the scholarship named after Academician Y. B. Khariton will be paid from September 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.
According to Mikhail Puchkov, Minister of Education and Science of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the competition for the scholarships was very high. More than 130 applications were submitted by talented young people. Schoolchildren from Nizhny Novgorod, Arzamas, Sarov, Chkalovsk, Balakhna, Gorodets and Dzerzhinsk were particularly active.
The main selection criteria for the Nizhny Novgorod Region scholarships were achievements in various fields of science, as well as successful performances at All-Russian and international olympiads. The scholarships named after Academician Khariton were awarded to young talents who distinguished themselves in the physical and mathematical sciences and became winners or prize-winners of intellectual competitions at various levels.
