Society. A rabies quarantine has been declared in the village of Tanaykovo in the Perevozsky district. The corresponding order was signed by the governor; the document was published on August 15 on the official legal acts portal.

The cause was the discovery of an infection focus on the premises of a local resident's private homestead. That site has been recognized as the epicenter of the outbreak.

During the quarantine period, it is forbidden to treat infected animals in this focus, to move them, to bring them in or take them out, except for those that have been vaccinated against rabies within the last six months. It is also prohibited to skin carcasses and to admit outsiders onto the territory. Entry is permitted only to veterinary service specialists and maintenance personnel.

In addition, in the village of Tanaykovo itself, fairs, exhibitions and other events involving animals are prohibited. Hunting of wild animals susceptible to the virus is also restricted, except in cases where it is necessary to control their numbers. The capture of such animals for the purpose of transporting them, for example to zoos, is also prohibited.

The Veterinary Committee has been instructed to prepare and approve a plan to eliminate the focus of infection and prevent further spread of the virus in the settlement.

Earlier it was reported that anthrax was detected in the village of Kekino in the Vorotynsky district.
