Schools and kindergartens in Nizhny Novgorod have completed preparations for the school year.

      All educational institutions in Nizhny Novgorod are ready to receive children on September 1. This was reported by the city’s mayor, Yuri Shalabaev, on his Telegram channel.

      In total, 471 educational organizations operate in the regional center — including schools, kindergartens and supplementary education institutions. The head of the city noted that the acceptance inspections of the institutions, which were scheduled to be completed by mid‑August, have been successfully completed everywhere.

      Nearly 2.5 billion rubles were allocated for preparation for the new school year. The funds were used for routine repairs, implementation of fire safety and anti‑terrorism measures, and renovation of dining facilities. The program to modernize school cafeterias is being completed this year, the mayor noted, and development of a similar program for kindergartens has already begun.

      Textbooks and laboratory, computer and sports equipment were also purchased with budget funds. Medical offices in educational institutions have additionally been equipped.

      In September 2025 more than 158,000 students will take their seats at school desks, of whom about 14,000 will be first‑graders. More than 61,000 young children will attend kindergartens.

      It was previously reported that major renovations will be carried out in 4 kindergartens, 7 schools and two supplementary education institutions in 2025.
