      In Nizhny Novgorod, three women from Nizhny Novgorod will stand trial, accused of embezzling budget funds on a particularly large scale. According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, police established that at the end of October 2022 the head of a non-profit organization, together with two acquaintances, concluded nine contracts for holding and organizing events in the field of education for a total amount of 9,643,972 rubles. Of the 8,180,658 rubles allocated from the regional budget, the defendants transferred these funds to repay debts, and 1,463,314 rubles were embezzled by providing fictitious documents. The defendants in the criminal case have been placed under a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions. During the investigation, in order to ensure compensation for the damage caused, an arrest was imposed on three plots of land and one apartment totaling 9,490,000 rubles. The fraud case has been investigated and sent to court. The perpetrators may face up to 10 years in prison.
