Businesses in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast owe 933 billion rubles in loans.

      Loan obligations of organizations and individual entrepreneurs in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast reached 933.1 billion rubles as of July 1, 2025, the Volga‑Vyatka Department of the Bank of Russia reported.

      Growth of the loan portfolio in the first half of the year was moderate — only 0.4% compared with the start of the year. A restraining factor was high interest rates, which limited borrower activity. This dynamic was preceded by an overheating of corporate lending last year.

      Most loans went to manufacturing and real estate companies. Over the six months of 2025, organizations and entrepreneurs in the region received loans totaling 466.8 billion rubles.

      Of this amount, banks provided 341.4 billion rubles to large businesses and 125.4 billion rubles to small and medium-sized enterprises.

      It is also noted that the volume of funds in deposits and other business accounts in the region increased by 0.8% since the beginning of the year and amounted to 654.4 billion rubles as of July 1.

      It was previously reported that the State Duma wants to ban banks from handing over long-overdue debts to collectors.
