In the Nizhny Novgorod Region, damage caused to soils has been compensated at the request of Rosprirodnadzor.
The administration of the Sechenovsky Municipal District of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast voluntarily reimbursed the damage caused to the soil as a result of the unauthorized disposal of industrial and household waste.
The violation of environmental protection legislation was detected by inspectors of the Interregional Office of Rosprirodnadzor for Nizhny Novgorod Oblast and the Republic of Mordovia in 2024. In the course of a comprehensive survey of the closed MSW landfill in the area of the village of Sechenovo carried out as part of the Federal Project “General Cleanup,” it was established that part of the waste had been placed outside its boundaries on an undemarcated land plot. The area of the littered territory is approximately 3,400 square meters.
Based on the data obtained, specialists of the supervisory authority calculated the damage caused to environmental components (soils), which amounted to more than 1.3 million rubles. This amount was claimed for reimbursement from the local self-government bodies, which, under current legislation, are charged with the duty to carry out municipal land control and prevent pollution and other adverse impacts on lands and soils.
At present, the entire amount of damage has been fully reimbursed.
