In the village of Kadnitsy on a picturesque high bank of the Volga, an important event took place — the consecration of the restored Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord. The ceremony was conducted by Archbishop Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas on his birthday.

The return of the shrine to life was reported by the governor of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Gleb Nikitin, on his Telegram channel.

The head of the region noted that the church's history dates back to the 16th century. It was then that a wooden church was first built on this site. It was later replaced by a brick building.

In the 1930s the church was looted, and its premises were used as a grain storage facility. However, in 2012 local residents began to restore the shrine themselves.

Now, nearly a century later, bells ring again in the church and services are held.

Gleb Nikitin congratulated Bishop Georgy on his birthday and wished him: "Many years and blessed years."

Earlier it was reported that a new church was erected in Bor in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast for the 80th anniversary of Victory.
