      Experts from the Regional Competence Center (RCC), together with employees of LLC RosALit Foundry Plant from Zavolzhye, Nizhny Novgorod Region, summed up the interim results of implementing the tools of the federal project "Labor Productivity" of the national project "Efficient and Competitive Economy."

      Specialists from the Regional Competence Center work at participating enterprises of the federal project for six months. After three months an Information Day is held to review the work done and present plans for the second part of the project.

      The enterprise specializes in the production of aluminum castings, complex-shaped parts with machining, and tooling manufacture.

      According to the Minister of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Maxim Cherkasov, the pilot stream chosen was the process of producing castings with machining. Sales of these products account for 23% of the company's revenue.

      "RCC specialists conducted an audit at the enterprise and identified 15 bottlenecks in the flow. These include long equipment changeover times, a lack of blanks and downtime in the machining shop. Solutions were proposed for each of these items and an action plan was developed. Implementing the RCC experts' proposals will halve downtime. According to calculations, the package of changes will increase output by 11 percent," said Maxim Cherkasov.

      RCC experts trained 23 company employees in lean technologies and are also preparing two in-house trainers who will later be able to independently pass the knowledge on to their colleagues.

      Currently, two foundry operations in the Nizhny Novgorod Region are implementing tools from the federal "Labor Productivity" project.
