      The investigation of a criminal case against the former head of the Gorky-Sortirovochny wagon repair depot in Nizhny Novgorod, accused of a series of serious economic crimes, has been completed. The charges include fraud, embezzlement of property and receiving commercial bribes. This was reported by the press service of the Central MSUT of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

      According to the investigation, in 2023–2024 the accused organized a scheme to steal funds by signing fictitious certificates of completed work on preparing tank cars for repair. The work was in fact not carried out or was only partially carried out. The total amount of damage exceeded 10 million rubles.

      Investigators also established that the person in question extorted and received more than 250,000 rubles from the director of a commercial organization for actions within his official duties. As another bribe he accepted a foreign-made SUV worth more than 1.2 million rubles.

      In addition, the former railway worker used official fuel cards to refuel his personal vehicles. The amount of damage from these actions exceeded 300,000 rubles.

      The investigation was conducted with active support from the Department for Economic Security and Anti-Corruption of the Transport Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Volga Federal District and the FSB Directorate for the Nizhny Novgorod Region. As a result, an extensive body of evidence was collected, and the criminal case with an approved indictment has been sent to court.

      The Volga Transport Prosecutor's Office added that, to secure enforcement of the judgment, assets of the accused worth about 10 million rubles have been seized.

      Earlier it was reported that a Nizhny Novgorod businessman was punished for deceiving the police during boat repairs.
