A record number of spam calls blocked was recorded in the Nizhny Novgorod region — their total duration amounted to about 3.7 million minutes. This is equivalent to roughly seven years of missed phone conversations.

The highest activity by phone fraudsters and spammers came in January and March. These months are traditionally full of holidays — from New Year’s holidays and Christmas to International Women’s Day and Maslenitsa. During such periods, attackers especially actively exploit citizens' trust, disguising their calls as messages about discounts, promotions and winnings.

One user became the target of the largest attack: in the first six months of 2025 the anti-spam protection service blocked 12,700 unwanted calls for him.

Most often, Nizhny Novgorod residents encountered aggressive advertising, offers from banks and microfinance organizations, as well as intrusive surveys. Less frequent were calls from delivery services, realtors and taxi services.

Anti-spam services provide real help: they save users time by automatically responding to suspicious calls and timely warning about possible threats. Their main advantage is protection against serious risks such as theft of personal data, financial losses and psychological pressure from fraudsters.

According to MTS director in the Nizhny Novgorod region Andrey Belov, residents are increasingly using intelligent technologies capable of recognizing fraud schemes during a call. The program, with elements of artificial intelligence, analyzes the dialogue and, when it detects suspicious signs, immediately notifies the user. After that the person decides whether to continue the conversation. Over six months the "Safe Call" system warned of potential threats more than 1,700 times.
