A mountain hare is 'patrolling' in the Kerzhensky Nature Reserve.

      In the Kerzhensky Reserve of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, staff encountered an unexpected "patrolman".

      A white hare twice blocked the road for official vehicles when state inspectors were heading by tractor to a restricted hay-mowing site.

      Despite the loud noise and the vehicle's imposing size, the hare was not only unafraid but stepped out in front of the moving vehicle, completely blocking the road.

      Some time later, in the same spot the long-eared animal again appeared in the path of another employee who was driving to the central part of the reserve to the enclosures with forest reindeer.

      It seems that the hare chose this section of the patrol road, which crosses the reserve from west to east, as its personal traffic control post.

      Earlier it was reported that a camera trap filmed a fierce fight between bear cubs in the Kerzhensky Reserve.
