      In the Avtozavodsky District of Nizhny Novgorod, police detained a 41-year-old man who, over the course of a couple of weeks, managed to strip five parked cars. According to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, he had previously been repeatedly prosecuted and was unemployed.

      The perpetrator sometimes forced locks and sometimes simply took advantage of cars being left unlocked. As a result, he managed to make off with two laptops (one of which turned out to be inoperable), several phones and gadgets, power tools, 20 bottles of cognac, cosmetics, perfumes and even the owners' personal documents.

      He sold all the stolen items to pawnshops. During a search, police were able to find only the inoperable laptop.

      The total damage from his actions exceeded 250,000 rubles. Criminal cases have been opened in all incidents under the charge of "theft."

      It also emerged that the detainee was already on the federal wanted list in a case being handled by the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Bogorodsky District. He has now been handed over to the authorities who initiated the search and remanded in custody.

      Earlier it was reported that thieves had robbed the apartment of a Nizhny Novgorod participant in the special military operation.
