In Nizhny Novgorod, water bodies for safe swimming have been named
August 9, 2025, 10:20 [207] Society Rosptroepnadzor has completed another water quality monitoring phase in the water bodies of Nizhny Novgorod used for swimming. Based on laboratory analysis, specialists determined which beaches meet sanitary standards and are safe for swimmers.
During the tests, water is analyzed for microbiological, virological, and parasitological indicators. A sanitary-epidemiological conclusion is issued based on the data obtained.
As of August 8, swimming is permitted at eight water bodies. The beaches recognized as safe are:
- Lake Svetlyar, both beaches (Sormovsky district);
- Lake Mescherskoye, Meschersky Boulevard (Kanavinsky district);
- Lake Sortirovochnoye, both beaches (Kanavinsky district);
- Lake Bolnichnoye, Moscow Highway (Kanavinsky district);
- Lake Silikatnoye, both beaches (Leninsky district);
- Lake PIK 1, Smirnova Street (Autozavodsky district);
- Lake PIK 2, Molodezhny Avenue (Autozavodsky district);
- Lake Pervoye, Shchelkovo Farm (Prioksky district).
Rosptroepnadzor also reminded that swimming is prohibited in water bodies marked with special signs or fences. Extra caution should be exercised near habitats of waterfowl—larvae can cause skin diseases and allergic reactions.
Additionally, it is not recommended to enter the water if there is water blooming, algae accumulations, or if the water body is near landfills, agricultural lands, or industrial zones. Under such conditions, dangerous microorganisms, parasites, and heavy metals may be present. The agency emphasizes that even in flowing water bodies, risks remain.
In areas where swimming is forbidden, water laboratory monitoring is not conducted.
It was previously reported that 56 people have died in water bodies in the Nizhny Novgorod region since the beginning of the year. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel. Subscribe to stay informed about main events, exclusive materials, and operational updates.
