Community In the village of Vyazovka in the Kstovo District, horseback riding classes are held for deaf and hard-of-hearing residents of Nizhny Novgorod. The project is implemented as part of the initiative "Immersive Sports and Regional Tours for the Deaf 'Mystical Obolensk'" and received support from the Presidential Grants Fund.
The organizer is the NGO "Children’s Equestrian Club 'Unlimited Opportunities'." The riding lessons combine elements of hippotherapy, local history, and interactive tours of historical sites in the Kstovo District.
Participants not only learn about attractions but are also literally "transported" to the atmosphere of the 19th century: they try on historical costumes, examine artifacts from the Museum of Coachmen’s Affairs, and participate in literary readings. During one of the sessions on August 6, an age group of participants aged 80 and older attended.
The oldest participant was 93-year-old Oleg Kudryashov. He said that thanks to the trips to Vyazovka, he felt renewed vigor and renewed interest in life. He particularly emphasized the importance of constant support from a sign language interpreter.
"Today, the senior group was practicing, and they are remarkably active. They easily get on the horses, sit confidently in the saddle, and are engaged in the process," said Anna Chapyagina, the project leader.
