A pedestrian bridge over the Oka will be built for 5.2 billion rubles.
Construction work on the cable car crossing the Oka near Zarechny Boulevard began on August 7. This was reported by an IA "Nizhny Segodnya" correspondent who visited the site.
The new cable car will connect Zarechny and Nagornaya parts of the city. It is expected that the travel time will be 15 minutes. For comparison: traveling between these two parts of the city via Molitovsky Bridge by car takes 40 minutes.
The length of the new cableway will be 3,340 meters with three stations. Each station will have waiting halls, elevators, restrooms, and rooms for mothers with children. At today’s construction site, the "Zarechnaya" station will be situated, the turn station "Tikhaya Gavan" will be located near Zaton named after the 25th Anniversary of October, and the third station "Gagarin Avenue" will be on the other side of the river near the "Okeaniss" shopping center.
Passengers will be able to observe the operation of mechanisms through transparent glass facades of cabins. Cameras, dispatcher call buttons, and phone charging outlets will be installed inside cabins. In winter, seats will be heated.
The construction is carried out by JSC "Urbantreh Cable Car." Company project implementation director Svetlana Trishina stated that the company has previously worked on upgrading the Bor cable car and pays great attention to safety issues. "The cabins will be equipped with two-way video communication, allowing operators to inform passengers about situations or remind safety rules. Accordingly, in case of any issues, passengers can ask questions or notify station attendants. The two-way communication with video surveillance will help staff monitor how each cabin develops," she explained.
JSC "Urbantreh Cable Car" is implementing the project under a concession agreement worth 5.2 billion rubles. The company's mandatory own capital share is 20% of the project cost.
The opening of the cable car crossing the Oka is planned for 2027.
