A 60-year-old intoxicated man stole an ambulance to make a dramatic appearance on a date with his beloved. The incident occurred in Pervomaysk, according to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Medical personnel noticed the missing vehicle and promptly contacted law enforcement authorities. Police tracked down the perpetrator shortly after the theft.
It was revealed that the suspect was heavily intoxicated (1.54 mg/l of alcohol). Criminal cases were initiated against him for theft and for driving under the influence. The police noted that the man had previous convictions.
The ambulance was returned to the hospital. The repeat romantic offender now faces up to 5 years in prison.
