The former rector of the Nizhny Novgorod university is prevented from fleeing to the SVO to escape criminal charges.

      The court again refused the former rector of Minin University to be sent to the SVO

      A court has once again denied Alexander Fedorov, the former rector of Minin University in Nizhny Novgorod, permission to be sent to the SVO. He is being prosecuted for embezzlement at his new place of work — the Baltic University in Kaliningrad. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing the defendant's lawyer.

      The Leningrad District Court of Kaliningrad dismissed the defense's petition to send former BGU rector Alexander Fedorov to participate in the special military operation. This is the third such attempt by the defense, and each time the court found grounds for refusal.

      It is recalled that Fedorov and his deputy Elena Myalkina are accused of misappropriation and embezzlement of budget funds totaling 35.1 million rubles. According to the investigation, they organized a scheme of illegal bonus payments to university staff, which were then used for personal purposes.

      The former rector partly admitted his guilt, citing managerial errors and insufficient control over financial transactions, but denied intent to commit theft. His deputy stated that she was allegedly acting under pressure and did not receive the money — it was supposedly taken by Fedorov.

      The next hearing in the case is scheduled for August 12. The defense does not rule out that they may submit a new request in the future to send Fedorov to the SVO, despite previous refusals.
