Incidents: Emergency firefighters from Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations rescued a teenage boy from an abandoned mine in Vorsma, Nizhny Novgorod region, the department reported.
According to available information, a 16-year-old was walking with friends inside an abandoned building when he suddenly fell into an open mine shaft. The young man was unable to get out on his own, and his friends immediately called the firefighters.
Four rescuers from the 68th fire and rescue unit arrived at the scene. They quickly inspected the shaft, ensuring there was no risk of a collapse, and descended with flashlights and a ladder.
Extracting the teenager was challenging. The rescuers used rigid stretchers specifically designed for evacuating victims from hard-to-reach places. Carefully and with medical assistance, they lifted the boy from a depth of two meters.
The injured was handed over to an ambulance team. In serious condition, he was transported to a hospital for further treatment.
Earlier reports indicated that in Pavlovo, rescuers helped a drunken man who was on the roof of a nine-story residential building.
