Nizhny Novgorod SK revealed details of the case against Deputy Safiullin

      Incidents: Details of a criminal case have emerged against Artyom Safiullin, director of a construction company and a deputy of the Orenburg City Council. The information was shared by the regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

      It is established that in 2023, the authorities of Chkalovsk in the Nizhny Novgorod region signed a contract with Safiullin’s company for the reconstruction of treatment facilities. To steal budget funds, the entrepreneur signed an additional agreement to the municipal contract, where the actual cost of the supplied equipment and the price of the work were inflated. As a result, the contractor received an extra 30 million rubles.

      The investigators from the Investigative Committee learned about the fraud through cooperation between the Economic Security and Combating Corruption Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Orenburg and the Investigative Committee. The Moscow District Court of Nizhny Novgorod has ordered the defendant in the fraud case (Part 4, Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) to be detained in a pre-trial detention center.

      Law enforcement agencies continue to establish the circumstances of the incident and identify other participants involved in the crime.

      It was previously reported that former head of Chkalovsk, Alexander Kudryashov, would stand trial again.
