
Counterfeit banknotes totaling 103,000 rubles were identified in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

Economics In the second quarter of 2025, 31 counterfeit banknotes were identified in the Nizhny Novgorod region, reported by the Volga-Vyatka branch of the Bank of Russia.
The number of counterfeits decreased compared to the same period in 2024—that year, 20.5% more were discovered. There was also an 11% reduction compared to the first quarter of this year.
The total nominal value of the seized counterfeits amounted to 103,000 rubles. The most frequently counterfeited denomination was 5,000 rubles, with 19 such notes found.
Additionally, eight fake thousand-ruble notes were detected. Specialists also identified three counterfeit ten-ruble coins and one fake five-ruble coin.
It was previously reported that residents of Nizhny Novgorod exchanged over 1 million coins at banks during the all-Russian campaign.
