From January to July 2025, specialists from the Nizhny Novgorod Testing Laboratory of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "VNIIZH" analyzed 380 soil samples. This was reported by the press service of the regional Rosselkhoznadzor.
A total of 900 microbiological analyses for sanitary indicator and pathogenic bacteria were conducted.
In 47% of cases, violations of norms were identified for Enterococci, coliform bacteria, and Escherichia coli (commonly known as E. coli). They are potentially dangerous to humans as they can cause diseases under certain circumstances.
The main sources of contamination are agricultural activities, wastewater, and household waste.
It is assumed that these analyses will help prevent the use of hazardous areas such as former landfills or livestock burial sites.
Recall that previously, fish from unknown raw materials were found in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
