On October 21, 2025, the VI International Forum on Foreign Economic Activities (18+) will be held in Nizhny Novgorod. For the first time in its history, the event will take place outside Moscow — at the Mayak Academy venue, according to the press service of the regional government.
The forum is organized by the Foreign Economic Activity Expertise Center of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, with the support of the Nizhny Novgorod Region government. The organizing committee is headed by Deputy Chairman of the regional government Dmitry Starostin.
The goal of the forum is to promote the development of foreign economic activities in Russian regions. Participants will discuss successful practices, measures to reduce administrative barriers, ways to adapt to the changing international economic environment, and strengthen ties with friendly countries.
The main theme of the business program will focus on supporting manufacturing enterprises that develop cooperation with international partners. Attention will be given to interactions with China, India, and the United Arab Emirates — countries with which Nizhny Novgorod Region already maintains robust economic relations.
The forum will feature discussions on export diversification, customs regulation, regional logistics capabilities, and the integration of Russian subjects into global trade. One session will be dedicated to discussing the development strategy for the external economic relations of Nizhny Novgorod Region up to 2030.
A кадровая session (training session) will also be organized for students and lecturers, covering in-demand skills in the foreign economic sector, as well as opportunities for internships and employment in export-oriented companies.
The program includes business meetings with representatives of foreign delegations.
Dmitry Starostin emphasized that despite challenges facing Russian businesses, entrepreneurs actively utilize new opportunities to enter promising markets. According to him, contacts with friendly states are developing particularly dynamically. The vice chairman noted that the forum has already established itself as an effective platform for professional networking and the development of joint initiatives. He expressed confidence that hosting the forum in Nizhny Novgorod will help the region more actively leverage best practices in export and develop international cooperation.
Support for exporters in Russia is provided within the framework of the national project "International Cooperation and Export," initiated by President Vladimir Putin. Measures of support are also included in the federal project "Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises" of the "Efficient and Competitive Economy" national project.
Organizer Lyudmila Teselkina pointed out that uniting the efforts of business, authorities, and the expert community is especially important in the context of global changes. She stated that the forum is becoming not just a discussion platform but a space for developing concrete solutions capable of influencing the development of export-import processes under new conditions.
Participation in the event will be free for university lecturers and students, as well as representatives of Nizhny Novgorod companies whose activities are related to foreign economic sectors.
