Schools in the Nizhny Novgorod region will migrate from "Sferum" to the new national messenger Max
The Ministry of Education and Science of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, district administrative education departments, and the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Education Development will begin transferring communication regarding studies from "Sferum" to the national messaging app Max starting September 2025. The transition will be gradual and completed by November of the current year. This decision is based on Federal Law No. 156-FZ dated June 24, 2025, "On the creation of a multi-functional information exchange service," and Government Resolution No. 1880-r dated July 12, 2025, which approved Max as the national messaging platform. The initiative involves uniting the "Sferum" learning and communication platform, developed by VK and Rostelecom, with the Max application. It should be noted that the "Sferum" platform is already actively used in schools for interaction among educational process participants and online lessons. As part of the upcoming changes, all contact information of educational organization staff and chats from "Sferum" on VK Messenger will be automatically transferred to Max. Users will need to register using the phone number associated with their "Sferum" profile. "Currently, testing of the service on the Max platform is underway. It will retain all functions intended for schools and teachers and will also offer new features. Importantly, a user of 'Sferum' will not need a VK ID to operate within Max," noted the Minister of Education and Science of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Mikhail Puchkov. The minister added that he personally uses the new messenger. "In my view, the national messenger is an important element of modern security and the country's independence, similar to the creation of a domestic payment system," he said. The developers of "Sferum" have prepared additional services for the new school year, including simplified document collection, which will enable parents to send certificates to school with minimal effort. The Max messenger will also feature a digital signature function. The Ministry of Education and Science of the region reminds that providing children with access to quality education in comfortable conditions is one of the priority tasks of the national project "Youth and Children," implemented under the instruction of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, from 2025. It addresses issues previously outlined in the "Education" and "Science and Universities" national projects and includes nine federal projects and programs: "Russia — a Land of Opportunities," "We Are Together," "Russia in the World," "All the Best for Children," "Leading Schools," "Teachers and Mentors," "Creating a Network of Modern Campuses," "Universities for the Leadership Generation," and "Professionalism."
