A participant in the special military operation from Nizhny Novgorod, Senior Lieutenant with the call sign "Young," has been serving on the front lines since September 2022. For successfully completing combat tasks and demonstrating personal bravery, the Nizhny Novgorod native was awarded the Order of Courage and a "For Courage" medal.
He is a professional soldier; after graduating from school, he entered a higher military engineering command school and served in Zabaikalsk. He decided to join the SVO to protect his country from Nazism. He was the youngest among the commanders in his unit, which is how he earned the call sign "Young." "Young" was involved in demining and laying mines as part of a sapper group. According to him, each operation requires a high level of responsibility and precision, as the lives of the sapper and his comrades may be at stake.
His platoon consisted of soldiers from various nationalities, and all felt like a unified team, a brotherhood in arms. They supported each other and helped each other in difficult moments.
"We had Buryats, Russians, Georgians, and even a soldier born in Ukraine. There was never any conflict due to national or cultural differences. We only joked about the names: 'mulberry' or 'tutovnik.' The Buryats taught me to drink tea with milk, now I only drink it that way—thanks to the guys!” shared the SVO participant.
During combat, the soldier was wounded and is now undergoing treatment, with rehabilitation to follow. He says that if not for the injury, he would definitely have continued service and returned to the SVO to reach victory with his comrades.
"All our guys are motivated — only forward, towards Victory! The truth is on our side, so victory will be ours!” the soldier is confident.
It is worth noting that the state provides material support to defenders of the Motherland and assists their families. Those who sign a contract and go to the SVO zone are issued certificates for 10 acres of land in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The certificate can be used two years after it is issued.
Additionally, Nizhny Novgorod region has a mechanism for concluding military social contracts, which additionally guarantees the contract soldier’s family 10,000 rubles per month for each child, benefits for utility payments, preschool services, and other forms of support. Individual family support for servicemen is also provided.
Transportation of residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region to their duty stations and provision of additional gear are coordinated through the Center for Support of Mobilized Servicemen and their Families, based at the House of National Unity. The region continues to actively support military personnel by sending humanitarian aid to the SVO zone.
