      In Nizhny Novgorod, a 45-year-old deputy director of a local organization fell victim to online scammers and lost over 10 million rubles while attempting to purchase a car. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      According to the victim, he found a website of a company online that allegedly specializes in selecting and purchasing cars abroad.

      After communicating with a representative of this organization, the man transferred 150,000 rubles as a deposit. A month later, the attacker reported that a suitable car had been found and requested an additional 6,165,000 rubles and 2,000,000 rubles for the payment.

      Later, the scammer demanded an extra 1,800,000 rubles supposedly for document processing. After transferring the entire amount, the fraudster ceased contact. The total damage amounted to 10,115,000 rubles.

      A criminal case has been initiated regarding the fraud. The article provides for up to 10 years imprisonment.

      Police are conducting operative-search activities to establish the owners of the bank accounts and the identity of the suspect.

      It was previously reported that residents of the Nizhny Novgorod Region lost more than 54 million rubles to scammers in one week.
