New rules for waste collection and disposal are being introduced in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      In September, new rules for waste collection and removal will come into effect in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The changes were initiated at the federal level and affect the work of the regional operator for handling MSW. This was announced by AO "Citimatic-Nizhny Novgorod."

      According to the updated requirements, property owners are obliged to submit an application to conclude an agreement with the regional operator within 10 days after acquiring a plot or building. They must specify the location of the designated waste collection site.

      Legislators also clarified several terms, defining the meanings of "bunker," "container site," "bulky waste," and "vending machine." Additionally, the responsibility zone of the regional operator now officially begins from the moment waste is loaded into specialized equipment.

      Waste removal contracts will now be concluded automatically through a special form on the website. Payments for such contracts will be based on established standards.

      Local government authorities have been authorized to independently decide on the creation of separate container sites within their municipalities. For management companies, homeowners associations, and gardening cooperatives, the list of required documents for contract registration and the procedure for concluding agreements have been clarified.

      From now on, construction debris and tree branches are prohibited from being disposed of in ordinary waste containers. Furthermore, all garbage trucks must be equipped with satellite tracking systems to monitor compliance with waste collection schedules.
