ZSN deputies want to restrict the sale of energy drinks at mass events.

      The Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region has proposed introducing additional restrictions on the sale of non-alcoholic tonic drinks, including energy drinks. The relevant bill has been posted on the official portal of the regional government for regulatory impact assessment of legal acts.

      It is noted that the goal of the proposed restrictions is to reduce the consumption of energy drinks in places related to physical, intellectual, and cultural development, as well as to minimize the risks of dependencies and health issues associated with these beverages.

      The initiative was developed by the United Russia party faction. The document provides for a ban on the sale of energy drinks in educational, healthcare, cultural, and sports organizations, as well as through vending machines. Additionally, the bill grants the regional government the authority to impose restrictions on the sale of such drinks during mass events, including rallies, processions, and sporting competitions.

      The authors of the bill emphasize that, despite the existing federal ban on the sale of energy drinks to minors, these beverages remain accessible in crowded places. According to the initiators, regular consumption of energy drinks harms human health.

      "Moreover, regular consumption of these drinks creates a corresponding dependence and can also trigger the exacerbation of nervous and mental illnesses," states the explanatory note to the bill.

      It was previously reported that a bill was submitted to the State Duma proposing a ban on retail sales of energy drinks near medical, sports, and educational institutions.
