      The Prosecutor's Office of the Prioksky District of Nizhny Novgorod uncovered illegal cryptocurrency mining activities within the territory of the "Kolos" gardening partnership. This was reported by the press service of the supervisory authority.

      A local resident installed mining equipment for cryptocurrencies in a non-residential premises located within the gardening partnership. However, he did not formalize the necessary electricity consumption agreements, leading to unaccounted resource usage.

      The damage caused to the power supply organization exceeded 2 million rubles. The prosecutor’s office forwarded the investigation materials to law enforcement authorities for legal assessment of the offender’s actions.

      As a result of the review, a criminal case was initiated under the article for causing property damage through deception or abuse of trust without signs of theft, committed on a large scale.

      The operation of the illegal mining farm was halted. The investigation into the criminal case is ongoing under the supervision of the district prosecutor’s office.

      It was previously reported that two residents of Nizhny Novgorod lost 9 million rubles attempting to invest in cryptocurrency.
