      Society. The installation of a "wet barrier" system designed to neutralize unpleasant odors has been completed at the Nizhny Novgorod aeration station. The work was carried out by a contracting organization as part of a large-scale reconstruction of the facility, with the first phase 97% complete. This was reported by the city administration's press service.

      The installed system is a domestic development. Similar technologies are already used in Novosibirsk, at agro-industrial enterprises, and at solid waste management facilities.

      The essence of the "wet barrier" operation involves spraying a special aqueous solution into the air. It contains a mixture of essential oils and natural organic compounds derived from plants. The composition is safe for humans and the environment.

      The station operates automatically. The module includes water and solution tanks, pumps, a control panel, and a weather station. As soon as the wind direction capable of carrying odors beyond the facility is detected, the system activates and supplies the solution to the nozzles.

      The nozzles are installed at a height of about 10 meters, with a four-meter interval. They are connected by a 600-meter-long main pipeline running around the aerotanks and secondary clarifiers.

      Currently, the system is in commissioning mode. Station specialists, as well as IT staff, have already undergone training on its operation under the guidance of representatives from the contractor.

      Earlier, it was reported that authorities intensified efforts to combat unpleasant odors in Nizhny Novgorod following residents' complaints.
