Teenager's death in a pond near Zubanykh is being investigated as a criminal case.

      Incidents In the Nizhny Novgorod region, a criminal case has been initiated regarding the death of a teenager at a water body located within an eco-park. The investigation is conducted by the Bogorodsky Interdistrict Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the region.

      The case was initiated based on signs of a crime under paragraph "v" of part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — providing services that do not meet safety requirements for the life and health of consumers, which negligently resulted in a person's death.

      Preliminary information indicates that the tragedy occurred during the day on July 26, 2025, in the village of Zubanikha, Dalnekonstantinovsky District. A group of teenagers was riding a catamaran with a waterslide installed at the water body in the eco-park.

      At some point, one of the teenagers slid down the slide and swam toward the shore; however, he soon went underwater and did not reappear on the surface.

      Investigators of the Investigative Committee and emergency services from the Nizhny Novgorod region joined the search. Diving teams recovered and removed the minor's body from the water.

      During the initial examination, investigators did not find signs of violent death. A forensic medical examination has been scheduled to establish the exact cause of death.

      As part of the investigation, investigators have already inspected the scene of the incident, interviewed witnesses, eyewitnesses, and the parents of children present at the water body.

      A comprehensive investigative process is underway to clarify all circumstances of the tragedy, as well as the causes and conditions that may have contributed to it.

      It was previously reported that the teenager's body was found in a pond in the Dalnekonstantinovsky District of the Nizhny Novgorod region. The search, involving police officers and diving teams, continued for more than a day.
