Nizhny Novgorod doctors saved 300 premature babies

      Society Over the past three years, specialists from the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Children's Clinical Hospital (NORCH) have saved more than 300 premature babies. This was reported by the chief editor of MIА "Stationary-Press" Alexey Nikonov.

      The smallest saved newborn weighed only 450 grams. And medical staff from Nizhny Novgorod successfully operated on a baby weighing just 480 grams.

      The hospital admits very tiny patients — from a few hours to 28 days after birth. Each case requires a special approach and coordinated work among doctors.

      "The multidisciplinary team of doctors at NORCH, as well as cardiac surgeons from the B.A. Korolyov Research Institute of Cardiac Surgery, not only save vital functions in premature babies but also ensure normal neuropsychological development of these children in the future," Nikonov noted.

      Additionally, on the initiative of medical professionals involved in the "Healthcare Ambassadors" project, a vital support program for parents was launched at the hospital. It is called "Bell of Hope" and helps families facing the birth of a preterm baby to receive necessary information and psychological support.

      It was previously reported that the Nizhny Novgorod region ranked first in the country for the level of financial support for families with children at birth.
