Assistance to Orthodox believers: the "United Russia" volunteer squad has traveled to the Seraphimo-Diveevo Monastery camp

      Society Volunteers of "United Russia" headed to Diveyevo to assist pilgrims arriving for the celebrations dedicated to the Days of Remembrance of Reverend Seraphim of Sarov. The regional branch of the party has been sending a volunteer squad for over 20 years.

      Before departure, in the Cathedral of Archangel Michael on the grounds of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, Father Evgeny Kondratyev conducted a prayer service for the volunteers. The volunteers received a blessing to begin this good work.

      "It is gratifying that young people intend to help their neighbors. 'Who is my neighbor?' asks us the Holy Gospel. And we answer: 'Our neighbors are those in need of our help.' Today, you are heading to the Fourth Domain of the Holy Virgin in Diveyevo—a place where thousands of pilgrims will arrive in the coming days, and they will all need your help with accommodation, navigation, and hundreds of other concerns. From the bottom of my heart, I wish you God's assistance in this challenging endeavor," said clergyman of the churches of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, Father Evgeny Kondratyev.

      Dmitry Filipenko, head of the regional branch of "United Russia," expressed gratitude to the volunteers for their active stance and desire to provide meaningful assistance during the sacred days for Orthodox Christians.

      "For our region, the Day of the Relics of Seraphim of Sarov is an important date. This saint has glorified our region's name. Every year, tens of thousands of pilgrims from across the country come to Nizhny Novgorod. The party’s assistance during the celebrations in Diveyevo is traditional. We have been involved in organizing the pilgrimage town since 2003. I wish our volunteers success in this noble endeavor," noted Dmitry Filipenko, head of the regional executive committee of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of "United Russia."

      Nizhny Novgorod resident Irina Kodochigova is volunteering in Diveyevo for the third time.

      "Helping pilgrims is a special state of mind. You continually discover new things: organize camps, meet and accommodate visitors, distribute blankets, work in the kitchen, oversee registration and the safekeeping of personal belongings. It's joyful to see how your help eases the pilgrims' journey. You encounter diverse yet equally bright people, each meeting bringing vivid emotions and unforgettable impressions. The work is simple; anyone can manage it, and that’s truly valuable," shared Irina Kodochigova.

      "The celebrations in honor of the memory of the holy protector and patron of Rus', Seraphim of Sarov, in Diveyevo traditionally attract a large number of pilgrims. The Nizhny Novgorod diocese creates all conditions for their comfortable and safe stay in the tent camp. The participation of 'United Russia' volunteers in these events involves assisting organizers in welcoming numerous guests. It is encouraging that the party’s youth activists, always ready to support important social tasks, continue to adhere to the principle 'people for people' in their work," commented Evgeny Chintsov, chairman of the Nizhny Novgorod City Duma.

      Recall that on August 1, 2025, celebrations dedicated to the 122nd anniversary of the discovery of the relics and the glorification of Reverend Seraphim of Sarov as a saint will be held at the Serafimo-Diveyevo Monastery. Every year, guests from all over the country and abroad attend these events.

      The Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of "United Russia" annually forms a squad of volunteers who work at the pilgrimage camp and assist in organizational events. Party volunteers have participated in the celebrations since 2003.
