Man died in a fire in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      The fire could have been caused by careless smoking.

      In Pavlovo, Nizhny Novgorod region, a 55-year-old man died as a result of a fire. This was reported by the regional Emergency Situations Directorate.

      The fire occurred in a multi-apartment building. The fire spread to 15 square meters – furniture and wallpaper in one of the rooms were burned.

      Fifteen rescuers and four units of special equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.

      Twenty people, including three children, were rescued from the burning building. The body of the 55-year-old apartment owner was found at the scene.

      Preliminary data suggest that the fire may have been caused by the deceased's careless smoking.
