"Abilympics" championship for vocational veterans has started in Kazan

      SocietyIn Kazan, the first professional skills championship among participants in the special military operation — "Abilympics" — has commenced in Russia. This event became part of a large-scale program for social adaptation and professional rehabilitation of military veterans.

      The opening of the business program took place during the plenary session, attended by representatives of federal and regional authorities, the State Fund for Support of SVO Participants "Defenders of the Fatherland," the Institute of Professional Development, the Russian Society "Knowledge," as well as major employers in the country.

      The State Fund "Defenders of the Fatherland" plays a key role in helping veterans reintegrate into peaceful life. The organization is building a comprehensive support system—from medical aid to professional training and employment.

      The fund actively cooperates with government agencies, educational institutions, and industrial companies to find new opportunities for the social and professional integration of SVO participants.

      Executive Director Yuri Khabrov reported that, at the initiative of the organization, the development of specialized manually operated transport—trucks and buses—has begun. These vehicles will enable veterans with amputated legs to work in the transportation sector. Appropriate training will also be organized for them.

      During the championship, equipment with manual controls, already tested by veterans, was demonstrated. Among the presented vehicles were a tractor-trailer, a bus, a tractor, and a passenger car.

      Vladimir Zhelonkin, Deputy Minister of Education of Russia, emphasized that supporting the professional development of SVO veterans is one of the priority tasks of the state. According to him, since 2024, SVO participants and their children have been given priority access to colleges and technical schools. More than 20,000 people across the country have already utilized this opportunity.

      Elena Perminova, Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy, noted that the "Abilympics" movement has long been an important part of rehabilitation for people with disabilities in Russia. She expressed gratitude to the participants and organizers of the championship and highlighted the importance of its conduct in the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland.

      Perminova stated that such events allow veterans to acquire new skills, and legislative authorities continue working to expand social guarantees for them and their families.

      Representatives of the Russian Society "Knowledge" and the Institute of Professional Development shared information on projects aimed at supporting veterans. The Vice-Rector of the Institute, Ioann Klindukhov, introduced a new initiative—the profession of "Creative Potential Architect." These specialists will help veterans develop their creative abilities and find new paths.

      The championship among SVO participants is being held for the first time and is implemented in accordance with the instruction of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. Over 400 people participate in the competition—contestants, experts, and accompanying persons.

      The program covers 15 competencies, including: web development, UAV operator, photography, car repair, woodworking, vocal performance, massage therapy, cooking, industrial robotics, electrical equipment assembly and disassembly, welding technologies, locksmith and carpentry, electrical installation, and CNC lathe work.

      "Abilympics" has become not only a platform for demonstrating professional skills but also a symbol of a new stage in the lives of those who have served their homeland.
