      In Nizhny Novgorod, major renovations are underway at several schools ahead of the new academic year. Mayor Yuri Shalabaev inspected the progress at schools No. 151 and No. 129, located in the Sovetsky and Avtozavodsky districts, respectively.

      

      Both institutions are undergoing facade upgrades and foundation reinforcement. All work is on schedule and will be completed by the end of September. Students will be redistributed to other educational organizations during this period.

      

      In the event of early completion, students will be able to return to the renovated buildings ahead of the planned date.

      

      One building of school No. 151 was constructed in 1958 and has not undergone significant repairs since. Last year, the roof was replaced here, and this year, facade renovation and foundation strengthening began. The work started in May.

      

      A new foundation strengthening technology has been applied at this site — bore tightening and reinforcement through injection, used in the city for the first time. The current readiness of the school is estimated at approximately 43-45%.

      

      The contractor is working according to the schedule, and under favorable conditions, the educational process may resume in this building at the start of the school year, earlier than the contract end date.

      

      Renovation work at school No. 129 includes facade improvements, site landscaping, window replacements, and new asphalt paving.

      

      Special attention has been paid to the dining hall. As part of the city’s modernization program for school kitchens, cosmetic repairs have been carried out and new equipment purchased. The cafeteria is tiled, with new tables and chairs installed. According to the school principal, Irina Voronina, the refreshed space will resemble a cafe for the children.

      

      The readiness of this facility is approximately 75%. Foundation strengthening work here has already been completed, and facade renovations are actively ongoing. According to Sergey Razhivin, General Director of the Capital Construction Department, a screed reinforcement method with subsequent concreting was used.

      

      Major repairs are not limited to these two schools: this summer, seven schools, four kindergartens, the "Izograf" art school on Ulyanova Street, and the V.P. Chkalov DDT branch are being renovated across the city. All projects are proceeding within contractual deadlines.

      

      The city’s program to modernize school cafeterias is also nearing completion. By the end of the year, all school cafeterias will be equipped with new appliances. The Education Department has been tasked with developing a similar five-year program for kindergartens, with implementation starting next year.

      

      It was previously reported that overhaul will also be carried out in six municipal sports schools of Nizhny Novgorod.
