The Ministry of Health Russia's initiative to expand the powers of middle medical staff has elicited mixed reactions among Nizhny Novgorod healthcare workers. This was reported by Alexey Nikonov, editor-in-chief of MIА "Stationary-Press," on his Telegram channel.
According to a survey conducted by the Healthcare Workers' Union of the region, most specialists did not support the proposal to delegate some doctor’s responsibilities to nurses and paramedics.
Participants in the survey who are nurses emphasized that they are already working under increased workloads. Many expressed concerns about the possibility of prescribing medications and narcotics, noting that they are not prepared to assume such responsibility.
One survey participant proposed an alternative way to lighten doctors’ loads. In their opinion, calls to patients at home should be discontinued, focusing efforts on receiving patients at clinics.
According to the healthcare professional, during a single home visit, a nurse can see at least four patients in the office, and for those with limited mobility, a social taxi service should be developed.
The regional Healthcare Workers' Union emphasized that they will categorically oppose the assignment of additional duties to nurses without appropriate pay increases and reasonable workload limits.
It was previously reported that the list of medical specialties eligible for one-time payments upon employment in regional healthcare has been expanded in Nizhny Novgorod Region.
