79% of childless couples believe that support measures contribute to the decision to have children.

A series of sociological studies were conducted in the Nizhny Novgorod region to examine the motivation of childless young married couples planning to become parents, as well as the impact of government support measures on their reproductive plans. The organizer and operator of the research is the Autonomous Non-profit Organization "Demographic Development Institute" in partnership with the "New Era" Development Center.

According to the data obtained, 79% of childless couples believe that federal support measures for families with children contribute to their decision to have a child, while 73% support a similar view regarding regional support measures. Moreover, 97% of young, childless families under 30 plan to have a child in the future.

As explained by the "Demographic Development Institute," the main obstacles in achieving reproductive goals among residents of Nizhny Novgorod are not a lack of desire but financial and personal issues. At the same time, 68% of respondents are generally satisfied with their current lives and view the future with optimism. The results of the studies will be used by the Demographic Development Institute to further improve family support measures, aiming to create conditions where having and raising a child becomes a feasible and natural choice for most residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

"The results of our research confirm that government support measures play an important role in motivating young families in the Nizhny Novgorod region to have as many children as possible. It is not only a matter of financial assistance but also a significant social signal that inspires confidence in the future. Therefore, at the Demographic Development Institute, we make every effort to ensure that information about all types of benefits and allowances is as accessible, clear, and timely as possible for each family. We are also developing our own innovative demographic tools that consider the real needs of the population and help create favorable conditions to increase birth rates in the region," noted the institute's director, Evgeny Zhuravlev.

Earlier, it was reported that awareness of federal family support measures and birth rates in the Nizhny Novgorod region has significantly increased. Specifically, 99% of families are aware of maternity capital, 94% of maternity and childbirth benefits, and 97% of monthly childcare allowances for children up to 1.5 years old. Additionally, local multi-child families are informed about regional support measures: 86% are familiar with free land allocation, 61% know about monetary compensation instead of land, and 80% are aware of subsidized kindergarten costs.

The studies on the awareness level of Nizhny Novgorod residents regarding government family support measures and their effectiveness were conducted in line with the goals of the "Family" national project and within the framework of the Five-Year Family Program of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
