Nizhny Novgorod Region ranked among the leaders in the implementation of the "Zemsky Teacher" program.

      Nizhny Novgorod Region has become one of the leaders in implementing the federal program "Zemsky Teacher." Currently, the staffing level of teaching staff in rural schools of the region has reached 99.8%.

      This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyschenko during a briefing to the President of the country, Vladimir Putin.

      The "Zemsky Teacher" program aims to ensure equal access to quality education for schoolchildren regardless of their place of residence. It provides for the employment of teachers in small settlements with a population of up to 50,000 people.

      Since the initiative was launched, 6,300 teachers have already moved to rural schools. They received one-time payments of 1 million rubles for relocating, and 2 million rubles if employed in new regions or on the Far East.

      In the future, the amount of payments may increase. For example, starting from 2027, it is proposed to raise the compensation to 2 million rubles for those who relocate to border regions.

      The program will operate until 2030. During this time, an additional 7,500 teachers are planned to be attracted to work in rural areas.

      Among the regions showing the best results are also Leningrad and Novosibirsk regions.

      It was earlier reported that biology teacher Anastasia Kondina from Vyksa became the best teacher of the Nizhny Novgorod Region in 2025.
